A woman from Virginia, U.S.A, claimed that she lost a lot of weight by undergoing what she called a “Starbucks diet”.
Christine Hall, 66, a librarian, said that she lost 85 pounds by eating all her meal at the Starbucks near her workplace. She said via an interview through MSNBC, that Starbucks pre-packaged foods located at the right underneath those sugary cakes and buttery croissants made up all her meals. She added that the nutritional information written in every packaged helped her to track her calorie intakes.
Hall reached 212 pounds in November 2009, but had never become an issue. But, when she was rejected to become a kidney donor, everything changed. “The kidney doctor was the first who had the nerve to say, ‘Let’s talk about your weight”, Hall said.
Hall’s Starbucks diet was simple. She will start her day off with an oatmeal and a black coffee which is composed of 145 calories. Her lunch and dinner are either bistro boxes (cheese, breads and foods), which consist of 220-460 calories. If she did a workout she will go back and will order a brownie.
The latest weight of Hall was 114 pounds, she measures 5-foot, 4-inches and has been in the Starbucks diet for 2 years.
But, an expert disagreed. Rebecca Scritchfield, a dietitian said that this habit can result to malnutrition. “When you follow something that … limits you to one particular restaurant, it’s very difficult to be healthy and meet your nutrition need”, Scritchfield said.
